College's Powerhouse Apprentice Company presents a workshop performance and
panel discussion of Ugandan playwright Margaret Namulyanga's new play,
Privileged Life of Cats. The play follows the lives of a lesbian couple
in Uganda after they are outed in a local tabloid and work to find their
own truth in the landscape of fear provoked by Uganda's recent anti-gay
legislation. After each presentation, Powerhouse students and a
panel of experts on the LGBTQ community in the Hudson Valley and
central Uganda will discuss the issues each community faces, and how we
might support and learn from each other. Sunday's panel will feature
JoAnne Myers, who is a founding member of the Center and currently serves as
Vice President on the Center's Board of Directors. An Associate Professor of
Political Science and co-director of the Women's Studies Program at Marist
College, JoAnne recently completed her third reference book about the lesbian
and gay liberation movement. The performances and
